And then there were two....Again!
Here were again, facing down two properties. The last time we found ourselves in this exact position, we spent weeks agonising over the decision, only to walk away from both houses because we couldn’t agree on a single thing. We were desperate to avoid that level of emotional trauma this time around.
The twist? This time, we both absolutely loved both houses. Because of course we did! Apparently, our relationship dynamic thrives on extreme difficulty settings.
As we made the long journey back “up North,” we debated our options. True to property-hunting tradition, we had given the contenders official titles. This time, our deeply imaginative, masterfully crafted monikers were “The Turret House” and “The Aga House.” I couldn’t help thinking we’d missed our calling in life. NASA needs to call us the next time they discover a planet, because we are clearly marketing geniuses.

After roughly four thousand hours of deliberation, we managed to boil the crisis down to a simple, albeit highly frustrating, reality:
We preferred the interior of The Aga House (fabulous original features, cozy vibes).
We preferred the land and location of The Turret House (less “suburban street,” more “rural tranquility”).
If we could have simply picked up the Aga House, strapped it to a flatbed truck, and plopped it down on the Turret House’s plot, it would have been perfect. Sadly, physics and local planning permission got in the way.
But a funny thing happens after a good night’s sleep and a strong cup of coffee. Clarity hit us. There was one specific detail neither of us could shake: the view from the Turret House. It was the absolute stuff of dreams—the kind of scenery that makes you want to sip tea in a silk dressing gown while staring thoughtfully into the middle distance. We could actually imagine waking up to that every day.

And just like that, the deadlock broke! The decision was made, the agent was contacted, and our offer was officially submitted.
Now, all we can do is wait… and try not to bite our fingernails down to the elbow.
